Pillars of The Anderson Prep Experience™

A child's brain develops rapidly during the first five years of life, especially in the first three years. It is a time of rapid cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional and motor development.  At APA, we provide interactive, hands-on, emergent style curriculum-based learning in a safe and nurturing environment.  Students are also offered enrichment activities to help inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence.  Whether we're furthering the educational experience of a 4-year old, encouraging a toddler's talents, or introducing an infant to art, we believe it's not about what we put into children, but what we bring out of them!
Literacy & Language

A child's love for learning begins at an early age.  At Anderson Preparatory Academy, children learn Spanish, Sign Language, math, sight words, phonics and writing.  Upon graduation, APA students encompass the essential skills to enter Kindergarten with confidence and excitement!

Science & Nature

Science and nature inspire wonder in children!  Science can be a simple homemade bubble recipe, or more intricate, like creating an experiment requiring observation, recording and discussions of the results.  Sink/float, gardening, life cycle of a butterfly - so many hands-on experiences can be found in the classroom as well as the great outdoors.

Creative Arts

Creative arts engage children's minds, bodies and senses.  This includes crafts, paint, drama, music & movement, sensorial areas - even the real grass and large sandbox on the playground - all to stimulate the imagination and creative expression.

Community & Family

Family and community play an integral part in the all-around development of a child.  We host several family socials throughout the year, attend off-site field trips, and invite local community visitors to our facility for extra-curricular fun and learning.

Social & Emotional

Social-emotional development includes the child's experience, expression, and management of emotions and the ability to establish positive and rewarding relationships with others (Cohen and others 2005).  At APA, we celebrate diversity as children learn to work together and care for others to help prepare them for real-world experiences.

Physical Development

Learning good physical activity habits early in life is crucial!  Along with our healthy meals, children at APA participate in yoga, martial arts, sports, field trips, as well as purposeful and free play on our large playground.

Infant Care

Infants also follow a curriculum, which includes art, music, movement, appropriate manipulatives and toys, tummy time, baby massage, baby signs, exposure to Spanish, story time, as well as lots of cuddle time and love.  The infant rooms provide ample room for learning to crawl and walk.  Additionally, infants keep the feeding and sleeping schedule you share with us.
